DR. SHARON D. WASHINGTON is an experienced physician of Obstetrics and Gynecology who offers patients a combination of excellent clinical expertise and warm personal care. Providing "care you can trust" is a philosophy that has motivated Dr. Washington throughout her career and continues to be an important component in her relationship with her patients.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii and raised in San Francisco, California, Dr. Washington attended the University of California, Berkeley where she majored in English. Her foundation in English literature, combined with her core belief in providing "care you can trust" has shaped Dr. Washington into a compassionate physician who takes the time to listen to patients with the understanding and insight required to effectively address their fears, concerns and needs.
Dr. Washington graduated from Medical College of Wisconsin in 1989 and accepted a surgical residency at Kaiser Permanente in Oakland California. It was during this surgical residency that Dr. Washington discovered her true calling to specialize in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Motivated by a strong desire to achieve this goal, Dr. Washington changed residencies and transferred to University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital where she completed her OB/GYN residency as the recipient of the Fourth Annual William J. LeMaire Award as Chief Resident who showed outstanding performance in Gynecological Endocrinology graduate training.
Dr. Washington attended medical school on a U.S. Army scholarship and upon completion of her residency joined the staff of Reynolds Army Community Hospital. During her tenure with the United States military, Dr. Washington obtained board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology and held the position of Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Reynolds Army Community Hospital at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Dr. Washington completed her military obligation in 1999 and left the military as a Meritorious Service Medal recipient.
Motivated by a strong desire to return to Northern California, Dr. Washington joined the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center OB/GYN department in Martinez, CA. In May 2002, Dr. Washington entered into private practice in Tracy, California as a Sutter Tracy Community Hospital physician.
Dr. Washington is currently one of only two women OB/GYN's practicing in the Tracy community. She chose to establish a practice in Tracy because "I think Tracy is an exciting city on the move. I think I am getting in on the ground level of something big."
